CANADA'S HIGHEST SPORTING HONOR

The Order of Sport Awards: Legacy Edition marks a milestone for Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. Taking place on November 4, 2026, this special edition celebrates seven decades of honouring Athletes, Builders and Trailblazers whose achievements reflect the very best of Canadians and the spirit of sport in this country.

This is a moment not only to recognize excellence, but to reflect on how sport in Canada has evolved—shaped by the people, movements, and ideas that have expanded its meaning and impact. Over the past seventy years, barriers have been broken, new pathways have emerged, and sport has become a powerful force for inclusion, reconciliation, social progress, and nation-building.

Class of 2026

On November 4, the Class of 2026 will be inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and receive the Order of Sport - Canada’s highest sporting honour. This year’s class recognizes three Trailblazers whose impact has fundamentally reshaped the landscape of sport in Canada.

Trailblazers do more than excel - they change what excellence looks like. They are defined by the barriers they break, the systems they challenge, and the new standards they set. Through vision, courage, and leadership, the Class of 2026 has created opportunities where none existed, opening doors for future generations and expanding what is possible in Canadian sport.

Their influence extends far beyond a single moment or achievement. From advancing equity and access to driving the growth of new leagues, pathways, and platforms, their contributions continue to shape sport across the country today.

Community Champion Award

The Community Champion Award is a new, national recognition program - created in partnership between Canadian Tire Jumpstart and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame - to spotlight the often-unsung heroes of Canadian sport: grassroots coaches and sport builders who make sport possible at the community level for children and youth. This program celebrates those who foster inclusion, access, and inspiration through sport, helping to build a healthier, more equitable Canada.

The Legacy Awards

Created to mark the 70th anniversary of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, the Legacy Awards are a commemorative honour celebrating the individuals, families, and organizations whose contributions have helped shape the very fabric of sport - and society - in Canada.

Distinct from the Order of Sport, these awards recognize those whose leadership, vision, and commitment have driven lasting change. Their impact extends beyond competition, advancing sport as a force for inclusion, reconciliation, community-building, and national identity.

Selected by a dedicated Legacy Edition Committee, recipients are honoured for their alignment with the Hall’s values, their long-term contributions to sport in Canada, their spirit of innovation, and their measurable impact on athletes, communities, and society. These are stories of influence that span generations - legacies that continue to shape Canadian sport and inspire what comes next.

Legacy - Visionary

Honouring an individual whose leadership and innovation have transformed Canadian sport at every level. Their influence reaches far beyond personal achievement, helping to advance inclusion, unity, and nation-building. This year’s Legacy Visionary recipient exemplifies these ideals - an architect of excellence whose impact continues to shape the direction of sport in Canada.
